Overall Ranking: 20 out of 100 or 1/5 stars

Owner: unknown – Michael Davis is just a pen name
Website: http://www.getpaidtakingpictures.com
Get Paid Taking Pictures (GPTP) has been online since early 2014. The owner is unknown, although on the publicity it is stated that the owner is Michael Davis, this is just a pen name used by the author.
The background to the program is a story, about Michael Davis, who was employed by Wallmart. He was asked by a customer to take a photo. This customer told Michael he was paid by websites to upload his photos, any old photos of everyday scenes. Anyway, he gave Michael the address of one of the websites and of course, Michael uploaded some of his own photos and made lots of money, $3647 in a week!
So now Michael is paying it forward and showing us how we too can make a good living taking pictures. Sounds good! Can it really be that simple? We’ll see in my review.
What is Get Paid Taking Pictures?
This is a program that shows you how to make money by uploading your own photos to different sites on the internet.
The reasoning behind the program is that with the ever-growing demand for photos on the internet, from people who are searching for photos for their websites or blogs, more or less every picture of quality has a certain value. This program shows you how to take advantage of this situation and by selling your photos to the people searching via the stock photo sites.
Who is this for?
This program is aimed at people with little or no experience in photography, but who want to make a little extra money online selling their photos. For this, they will need to pay for the list of websites and tips provided by this program.
For someone who is capable of searching online, this information can be found for free. It should also be noted that earning money online, from selling photos or any other method, is not as easy as this program suggests.
What’s included
There are three parts to the product:
In the manual, you are shown how to make money from your photos. The information is pretty elementary, here are some of the subjects that are treated:
- Why people will pay for your pictures
- The equipment do you need
- How to take pictures that will earn money.
- The subjects of your photos
- Upload your pictures to the photo sites
- A few phone apps are also mentioned. There are a few picture apps that are relevant and also some shopping apps like Swagbucks that have nothing to do with making money from photos.
Here the content is really self-explanatory, however, some of the tips for taking better pictures are very basic, for example, clean the camera lens or stand still when taking a photo. Having said that, some of the tips might help someone just starting to take photos, but if you have any experience with photography you don’t need to read this.
The list of 111 things to photograph might give you some ideas that could be useful.
This is really what this program is all about, a list of sites where you can upload your photos. In reality, you are given a list of just six sites that you could find easily for yourself. In fact, I just checked on Google and I found at least 15 sites to sell photos. This was just on the first page! So for me, this list is almost worthless.
In addition to these three steps, you are also given three bonuses.
- Secret Images List – a list of some of the most profitable images sold on the internet and the amount of money they have made for the person who uploaded the photo. This is pure hype to make you think it might be possible to achieve earnings like this.
- Outsourcing or Hiring Others To Do The Work For You – there is a link to download an eBook on outsourcing which will explain outsourcing in detail. Again this information is easily found online and if you want someone to do some work for you, try Fiverr, SEOClerks or other similar sites.
- Smartphone Apps – here you find the same phone apps that were included in the manual. Once installed on your phone, you can upload your photos directly or they will show you what people are searching for in your area. Other money-making apps are also included -you can get paid to shop, take surveys or other reward sites. I don’t recommend any of these money making ideas and after all, I came to this site to earn money from photos.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Some tips might be useful to someone starting to take photos
- No experience as a photographer needed
- 60 day money back guarantee
- Possible to make some money selling photos
Cons
- Making money selling photos is made to sound easy
- No real training
- You are told you can start taking photos with your phone, this won’t give you the quality photos required
- Same information and more, available for free online
- Hype in promotionel video
- Testimonial videos don’t look real
- Give the impression you will make money quickly
- Pressure tactics – discount for today only
- After joining you are recommended to join another program, nothing to do with photography. This program, Millionaire Mentor, looks like a scam.
- Emails from Michael Davis promoting other scammy programs and giving other false information as below
Tools and Training
As we have already seen, there is some very limited training that is only useful for novices to photography. You are given a few elementary tips for taking photos, some ideas of subject matter and some sites you can upload your photos to. That’s about the content of the program.
Support
GPTP has a knowledge base with just eight questions, but if you need more help you can submit an email.
How much does this cost?
The price of GPTP is $77 with downsells to $27 and then $19. As I have said in previous reviews downsells like these are often a sign that a program has very little value or might be a scam. In this case the program has very little value and you can find the same information for yourself for free.
There were no upsells, just a recommendation to join My Millionaire Mentor, a program that Michael Davis is using to make $2000 per day. Whatever you do, don’t join this program, you will lose your money and Michael Davis will make his affiliate commission.
The truth about selling photos online
If you have hundreds or thousands of photos on your computer, it is possible to earn some extra cash by selling the best of these photos on the stock photo websites. Although you should be warned, selling photos online these days is a competitive market and you may need to upload thousands of photos to stand a chance of making some money.
Often, sites like shutterstock.com or istockphoto will check a sample of your work for quality. Therefore, your photos must meet their guides for quality and be of a subject they need. Below is a list of subjects that iStock is looking for.
If you intend making money from selling stock photos here are a few points you should consider:
- You need to enjoy photography because you will be spending a lot of time taking and editing your photos
- Your photos should be of good quality which means you will need decent equipment
- You will need software to edit your photos
- You will only make a small amount per sale often under $1, but over time you may sell the same photo many times
- This is not a way to get rich quick, you need to be determined and put in the time
Consequently, I don’t think making money from selling stock photos is as easy as Get Paid Taking Pictures would have us believe and the claims of making $3647 in one week sound pretty far fetched.
Conclusion
I don’t think GPTP is a scam, it is possible to make money selling stock photos, but I don’t recommend this program. The information included in the program is very basic and can be found free online. Making money from photos isn’t as easy as they make out and additionally, a program that promotes others scams, as does GPTP, doesn’t merit our support or trust.
If you are interested in selling your photos online there are some sites dedicated to explaining the process, for example: everythingmicrostock.com, a site created by two photographers who sell stock photos. You can also find tutorials like this one on wikihow or the stock photo sites have some guides. There are plenty of free and detailed resources, you just have to search a little.
Don’t pay for the information offered with GPTP there are free alternatives that will provide good advice, without making it sound easy and also without the hype.
An alternative
If you still want to earn money online, but are unsure about selling photos, you could start your own affiliate marketing business. However, I think it’s important that you should be under no illusions, this will take hard work, time, patience and determination. Earning money online is never as easy as suggested in Get Paid Taking Pictures.
It’s a good idea to start with some good honest training, that will teach you the right way to start your business. Wealthy Affiliate is where I learned about building a website with WordPress, blogging or making money online from home. If you’re interested you can sign up for a free membership and have a look around.
If you have any experience of selling photos online or you have purchased the Get Paid Taking Pictures program, I would love your feedback.
Thanks,
Peter
ohhh Good i came into this site,,almost close for purchasing GPTP but i was confuse how to really
earn money,,i was so naive about this,,till i try to research in google and i saw ur blog,,its realy helpful
thank u so much peter for ur review…
Glad I could help you to avoid this program Maricel. Making money online is never as easy as they make out here and selling photos online is a very competitive market. No need to pay for this information and I think we should always remember making money online takes time, determination and hard work.
Thanks for your comment,
Peter
I remember that this product created by Michael Davis and released in early 2014. The claims that you can make awesome money by simply uploading pictures to the internet are a little too bold for me!
How much luck did you have making money wtih this product? Are there any upsells?
Hi Chris,
Yes, there is a lot of hype around this program. They give the impression that selling photos online is very easy, which of course it isn’t. I tried the program but after seeing the information they provide I got a refund. You can find more useful sites or tutorials online that are free. There aren’t any upsells just a recommendation to try another program which is a scam. They want to make some affiliate commissions by recommending this program and by doing this they show they couldn’t give a damn about their members.
All the best,
Peter
Hello Peter, really like your post and like the way you debunk scam products, but being balanced about it all the way to the end. You state the pros and cons and your review is based on your own experience. It’s really good also that you recommend alternatives, one of them being wealthy affiliate which i also endorse, wish u luck 🙂
Hi,
This program makes the process of selling your photos online seem too easy. Also lots of hype, giving you the impression that making more than $3000 in a week is just a matter of uploading some ordinary photos to the stock photo sites. Unfortunately, there’s a lot more to it and it’s very competitive.
When I write a review I try to keep an open mind and give an honest opinion, although it’s a shame there a so few genuines products out there. Wealthy Affiliate is one of the legit programs and building your own online business is the best course of action. Better to forget all these get rich quick schemes.
Thanks for your visit and comment.
Peter
Hey Peter,
I’ve done a little bit of working with stock photo companies and know several photographers and I know first hand that it takes some serious amount of niche pictures to make any money using stock photo sites.
So I don’t really believe the premise that the owner of Get Paid Taking Pictures really ever made $3,647/week selling his photos. With all the new cameras that take high quality photos, stock photography is a saturated market. So I don’t think this would be a good move to use these guys.
Plus you can go to any of the bigger stock photo sites and work for them for free, without paying in membership fees. Get Paid Taking Pictures sounds pretty shabby to me.
Great review Peter, I always enjoy your honest take on online money making programs.
Cheers,
Todd
Thanks Todd,
Making money from stock photos is not easy, so like you I think the story Michael Davis tells is just that, a story! There are certainly better ways to make money from photos than following the advice given by GPTP. If you want to sell photos there are some great sites with free advice, often run by successful photographers.
I would definitely not recommend paying for the low quality information provided here.
All the best,
Peter
Hello Peter,
I think indeed, like you said, it is not a scam, but they have maybe 1000000 baby pictures and they can sell 2 to somebody, the chances are very low that they pic your photo.
So indeed I don’t think it is a scam, but to earn money with I think you need to be a professional photographer and put all your unsold photos on that site, maybe you earn a bit then…
Grtz,
Bert
Hi Bert,
It may not be a scam, but it’s certainly not as easy as they say to earn a few dollars selling photos. To make money selling photos on the stock photo sites you need to have quality photos, not any old photos as GPTP tells us. But the real problem with this program is that they are selling information that is available for free and also they promote scams.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Peter
Hi Peter – thanks for the review it’s very detailed and although I had seen this product advertised along with others, I wasn’t sure what lay behind it as I have a bit of an interest in photography.
I know from my own research though that the market is very competitive and there are more sites now that offer free access to photos, so it’s becoming harder to make money that way anyway, and like you said it is a professional market.
I have actually started using my own photographs on my website (also incidentally built through wealthy affiliate) and adding quotes or inspirational comments to them. These become images on my own articles, saving me the cost of buying images and also having them on social media as a way to attract visitors to my site. So for people with an interest in this area there are possibly more productive uses for your work than just direct selling.
Hi Marie,
Yes, it is a competitive market and much harder to sell photos online than Get Paid Taking Photos would have us believe. Now you have seen what this program is all about, I’m sure you’ll agree you haven’t missed much. Great idea using your own photos on your site, I’m sure it gives your website some added originality as well as attracting people from the social media sites.
Thanks for your comments.
Peter
Hello Peter, thanks for comprehensive review. It is detailed and I think that everybody who read it, they will back off.
This guy, aka Michael Davis is a hunter, who look for naive people. These people think that money grow on tree and without hard and diligent work we can find treasures, which wait for us.
Of course, we will find it, but if we will use training of legit and transparent companies.
To sell pictures nowadays requires experience, professional equipment and constant work.
Real buyers, such as your mentioned iStock, have high requirements. Few years ago I tried my luck few times and was nicely told why my pictures are not good.
Your review shows all flaws in this guy website. It is a waste time and money dealing with him.
Thanks for enlightenment, keep up good work, exposing these untrustworthy guys, which pray on uneducated customers.
All the best, happy writing, Nemira
Hello Nemira,
Hopefully this review will help to keep a few people away from GPTP. They make it sound very easy to sell photos online and earn a lot of money very quickly, which is untrue. Of course, they will suck in people with no knowledge of making money online or selling photos, unfortunately that’s how these programs survive. For me the worst part of this program is the other schemes he promotes where people risk losing much more than with GPTP. Definitely one to steer clear of.
Thanks for stopping by,
Peter
Hello again, it is a pity, that these guys fool people and put themselves in category “run away from this stuff”. Anyway, it is a life. Various things happen. Thanks to reviews as yours, visitors will discover that their time is worthy. They could learn how to build real business online thanks for companies as Wealthy Affiliate.
All the best, Nemira.
You’re right Nemira, people should run away from these get rich quick schemes. But human nature causes us to think that maybe it’s possible, so some will try these programs and lose their money.
A much better alternative is accepting that earning money on the internet takes time and hard work. That’s where a great program like Wealthy Affiliate can get someone started building a legitimate online business.
Cheers,
Peter
Great and comprehensive review on get paid tkaing pictures. You brought up valid points why this program is what it is. It’s just so difficult to find something that really works within the internet nowadays. Almost every single product or service sounds an instant scam alarm in my head. That being said do you have something to recommend that really does work and deliver? Thanks a lot and hope to hear from you soon!
Hi Jesse,
GPTP makes it sound too easy to make money selling photos online, yet another of these programs with very little value. Finding something legit that works is very difficult. There is one program that I use that provides step by step training that teaches you how to build your own business. The training is first class and is what I followed to build this site, so I know it works and would recommend it to anyone.
Cheers,
Peter
Hey there Peter , I have come across this opportunity few months ago so I want to state my point of view. One my worst experiences ever online. That person , Mr Davis was trying to sell information that is available for free everywhere on the net.
Additionally you can’t expect to succeed in photography art with a cellphone. You will be competing experts that own professional equipment.Lighting , models , lenses and who knows how many more
The way that Davis is presenting the situation someone might think that with no training and a iphone can make money online. That alone is deceptive. It needs years of experience and moreover it needs social media connections and even a website where someone should expose his portfolio.
Shutterstock for example offers a free Giga-PDF that has plenty of information on how to get started. It arrived in my inbox in minutes.
That is why I punished him with a rate very close to Zero.Because no one is going to need him and his awful work.
Nice breakdown of the product.Honest review and a great read as always
Hi Tasos,
There are so many bad programs online, but I have seen worse than this one. I agree, Get Paid Taking Pictures provides information that is available online for free and it’s made to sound very simple to make money this way. But of course, making money is never easy and always takes hard work. I think this is what I hate most about this and many other programs, they make you think you are going to earn lots of money very fast.
To sell photos online you will need quality photos, the way GPTP presents things it seems that any photo will do. This is misleading! The info available for free, such as the Shuttersock PDF, is more detailed and you can find many more sites than just the 6 they list.
I was a little more generous than you with my rating, but the information included in GPTP shouldn’t be paid for.
Many thanks for your point of view Tasos,
Peter
