When you land on the CrowdRising.net home page you get the impression you will be giving money to help people. This, of course, is far from the reality.
Most people join this scheme to make money, giving is just part of the process. You must give before you can receive.
In my crowdrising.net review, we’ll see if this is something to you should consider or if it’s another cash gifting scam.
Product: Crowd Rising
Overall Ranking: 20 out of 100 or 1/5 stars
Price: $20 to become an active member
Owner: Gerhard Rempel + 4 others who are unknown
Websites: crowdrising.net, crowdrising.eu
Who is behind Crowd Rising?
The CrowdRising.net domain was registered on the 26th of March 2016, with Gerhard Rempel listed as the owner. For CrowdRising.eu the details have been kept hidden.
Gerhard Rempel was apparently the co-owner of Belizers, which was a Ponzi scheme. Investors were encouraged to invest on promises of a 150% ROI.
Rempel was also the owner of Fast Perpetual Cash Cyclone another little known and short lived Ponzi scheme that was started in 2015.
The Crowd Rising site states that the company is not owned by any individual but was created by 5 founding members, who are referred to as the “5 Horsemen”.
Hmm, can you have confidence in a company that doesn’t clearly state who the owners are? In addition, when the one known owner has a record of failed schemes this clearly doesn’t instill confidence.
What is Crowd Rising?
Crowd Rising is a similar type of scheme to MMM Global. If you’re not familiar with MMM Global, it’s a scheme where you make a donation to someone and you receive more in return.
The scheme will only survive as long as there are new funds and new members coming into the system. These new funds pay the existing members so this is clearly a pyramid scheme.
As a member, you will have to sign up new recruits. When there are not enough new recruits to pay existing members the program will collapse. The video below explains how it works.
Who Is This For?
This program can’t really be recommended for anyone. However, it seems to have the most success with the people who are desperate and who have little hope of earning money any other way.
According to Alexa most visitors (70%) come from Nigeria with the rest coming from the US and Europe.
These types of programs always seem to have success in Nigeria due to the economic recession there. People are willing to try and earn some extra money any way they can. When some publicize their success with schemes like Crowd Rising this attracts new members.
The authorities in Nigeria seem to let these schemes continue at the moment but if you are in the US or Europe, Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes or cash gifting schemes are illegal.
Of course, Crowd Rising tries to reassure you by saying:
But giving a member of your family a $20 bill is a lot different to giving someone you don’t know $20 in the hope of receiving $100 in return.
This is a cash gifting pyramid scheme, you recruit members and get paid, there are no services or products.
How It works
You sign up for the program by giving your name, email address and creating a password.
Then to become an active member you have to donate $20 to your sponsor. Once your sponsor has approved your donation you are on level 1.
On Level 1 you recruit 5 people, they will each pay you $20. You then move up to level 2 which will cost you $40. This is paid to the person who invited your sponsor.
Your 5 referrals then each sign up 5 new members. These new members then pay their sponsor’s $20 and they then pay you $40 if they want to progress to level 2. Which means you get 25 x $40=$1000. This continues right up to level 10 but with the higher levels, the numbers start to get a little ridiculous, as you can see below.
The payments are sent directly from one person to another by the payment processor they have chosen, so there can’t be any refunds.
To be successful you will need to recruit many new members which will not be easy.
There are no fees so the owners are undoubtedly placed at the top of the matrix to recuperate the largest share of funds deposited into the scheme.
The Price
You may think – heck it’s only $20 why not give it a try. That’s true but to get anywhere in this scheme you will then have to recruit other people into Crowd Rising.
You could just place a few Facebook ads and enroll some members without telling them the dangers and risks of joining this program. Your referrals may even end up making some money.
On the other hand, Crowd Rising may stop operating tomorrow and they could lose their money. Most people who sign up for programs like this will be desperate and won’t be able to afford to lose $20.
Be ethical, warn people of the dangers, tell them it may be illegal and advise then to only invest an amount they can afford to lose.
Crowd Rising will cease to function when there are not enough new recruits, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps in a year. The only thing that’s certain is it’s unsustainable and one day it will crumble.
My Final Opinion
Now you know the risks of joining Crowd Rising, you can make your own decision. I don’t recommend joining this scheme. If you do join, only invest money you can afford to lose and you will know who to blame if things go wrong.
To be successful, you will have to recruit many new members, which will take time and possibly money. And then once you have recruited lots of new recruits they will have to carry on recruiting. This will only work if there are always new members coming in and that is impossible!
Even if you do make some money, this will only be temporary. If you are in Europe or the US remember that this type of scheme is illegal.
It’s nice to dream of making money without putting in any effort but this isn’t possible. To earn money online you have to work hard and learn how to do it correctly.
If you’ve had enough of these dodgy schemes, I suggest that you try creating your own business that’s completely legit. Check out my #1 rated program where they will teach you how. It’s where I learned how to build this site.

My opinion: A mutual help scheme, you recruit new members who in turn pay existing members.
A pyramid scheme that probably won’t last long!
If you do invest only invest money you can afford to lose.
Not recommended.
Hi Peter
I have read your review. I have to say that I disagree for the simple reason that if Crowdrising was a scam, firstly, not so many (over 300,000) people would join this program. Secondly, a scam would never ever tell/instruct/direct you to pay another person/member. As we all know, scammers are greedy, heartless parasites who only think of themselves, let alone tell you that you have to pay another person/member. Not only that, but scammers don’t hang around when their pockets/wallets are full to the max, and they know that they will not get any more money. So they stop doing one program that fails, and starts another one, just seeking out persons who are unsuspecting and too willing to part with their money. The beauty of this program is that everybody – if not 99.9999 percent of persons who join can more than make their money back. Why? Because the system is designed so that YOU HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER PERSON in order to advance. You are helping others to advance, because that way you can advance when people fall into your group. Those people HAVE to pay you, otherwise they are removed from the system. The program does not encourage freebies or hangers on, who want to join, but don’t want to pay to stay. Crowd Rising is a program for everyone. I personally am on my way to completing my first level of 5 persons. after which I want to help them get their five and so on. Its a great program because you are encouraged to help someone else. Its a people helping people program. I have sent donations to people above me, and they do the same as well. The money only goes to the members, not to some corporation, or Mr Big, or all those who have joined early and end up as fat cats earning huge monthly commissions. Everyone has an equal change to make a difference for themselves and others. I have never come across a program like it. Believe me I have been involved in business opportunities for years, and hardly make anything. But with this, I can see something positive happening for myself and others. Surely over 300,000 people can’t be wrong.
Now despite what I have said, yes, I could well be wrong, and end up with egg on my face. But I really love this program. I was thinking that this program has helped many people make a difference in their lives and circumstances. Being able to turn a corner, and make a change for the better. And the thing is, people are joining EVERY SINGLE DAY. There is the possibility that this program could well hit 1,000,000 members – YES ONE MILLION MEMBERS, and even more. Many many people are in dire financial straits through no fault of their own. This looks a very positive way out so far, and I really hope by God’s grace this program will be around for a long time to come. Let’s not be too quick to put this program down. Its a program based on Crowd Funding, and that is everywhere today. Trying to get money, or raise it, can be very difficult for a lot of people. We have to think about that.
So I would say in closing, give it some thought. Yes it won’t be for everybody, although it is a program for everybody. But each has to make their own choice and be persuaded in their own mind, and make that all important decision. I hope you can try and see the other side of the argument, and make a sound decision.
Thanks for your comment Earl. I don’t say CrowdRising is a scam, I simply warn people to only invest money they can afford to lose because one day there will be no new members and the scheme will collapse. I think you should tell people this when they join, it may go on for years or it might finish tomorrow leaving many out of pocket. Anyway as you’re a member of this scheme I wish you luck but I still don’t recommend this to my readers.
Peter
Absolutely silliness bateman. It’s hard to believe Crowd Rising can even make a dime with this product.
Either people are getting stupider or like you say, really desperate.
That’s sad because it’s a small enough investment to give it a try, then what do you do. Spam Facebook and try to convince people you’ve found a great new way to make money online.
The reality is that your top recommendation Wealthy Affiliate has all the training and tools one needs to get started online.
It takes real work and a desire to learn, that’s it. So programs like Crowd Rising is a small waste of money, but a huge waste of time.
Think were you can be in a month, 6 months, 2 years, etc. You just need the right training source and will. Wealthy Affiliate has you covered on the first, you’ve got to bring the will.
Great review,
Todd
Couldn’t agree more with you Todd! Unfortunately, these types of programs work with the desperate and perhaps the greedy who are willing to recommend this program to anyone so they can make some money. Best to steer clear of this program because it probably won’t be around for long. Many will lose their money and waste their time promoting this scheme.
Joining a training program that will teach you the correct way to earn online is a much better proposition. This takes time and hard work which probably put off many people. Many still believe that making money online is easy and rapid. They are prepared to believe people like the “5 horsemen” and probably lose their money.
All the best,
Peter
Hey Peter,
Wow 5 horsemen, I think they played too much of Darksiders games. The heroes there are called horsemen too.
Clearly a ponzi scheme, thank goodness you reviewed this man. I was this close to joining and give it a try, you just helped me dodge a bullet thanks 😀
Hi Riaz,
Yeah, the 5 horsemen is a strange name for the owners of this program to be known by. Not being honest about their identities is a clear sign that this program isn’t legit. Glad I could help you avoid this program! If you want to earn money online be prepared to put in some hard work, these schemes that promise money doing virtually nothing just don’t work, they are usually after one thing, your money.
Thanks for your visit,
Peter
I came across crowd rising as I was researching making money online. I’ve tried some other programs similar to this and got caught out so I’m glad I found this review.
To me, these schemes prey upon those who just want to make a little extra, and to think it’s those up the top who are profiting makes me a little sad.
Are there usually the same people behind these time and again?
Pleased to help Mat. You’re right the people a the top, the owners, will be the ones who make the most out of these schemes. Very often we see the same people involved, for example, Gerhard Rempel has apparently been involved in other Ponzi schemes or look at Sergey Mavrodi who keeps popping up with new MMM Ponzi schemes. I suppose they have found a good way of making money, that is illegal in most countries, but depending where they are based, they managed to escape the justice.
Cheers,
Peter
If only I had seen this post sooner 🙁
I joined this program to ‘help’ (lol). Only realized how I was part of a pyramid scheme as my sole target was to Recruit, rEcruit, reCruit, recruit…did i mention RECRUIT?(lolx)
The system only survives only if there is a continuous inflow of money, as you rightly iterated.
Sorry to hear you fell for this scheme. Yes, for this to continue you will have to recruit new members. Better to build your own business,
it may take more time but is completely legitimate and I find it enjoyable.
Cheers,
Peter
Hello,
thank you for sharing in-depth article about program called Crowd rising. I have to point out, you really explain in detail everything we need to know about this product. I agree with you, it is not for everybody, but I don’t like the fact that I will have to recruit a lot of people to earn money.
Thanks Karlo! Yes having to recruit people into this scheme is something I don’t like. In fact, knowing the scheme could collapse at any minute and that it is illegal in most countries means I couldn’t do it. At least not without telling people the facts. When working online you should enjoy what you’re doing and only recommend programs that will help people. Building a business around one of your passions is possible and completely legitimate. There are training platforms that can take you through the process step by step.
All the best,
Peter
